Ask us to remove an intimate image of you
If someone has shared a nude or sexual photo or video of you on Coacta without your consent, you can ask us to take it down. That includes images that were edited or made with AI to look like you. You do not need a Coacta account to ask.
We remove the image within 48 hours of receiving a valid request, and we also look for and remove identical copies of it on Coacta. This is our process under the federal TAKE IT DOWN Act.
If you are in danger, call 911. If the image shows someone who is under 18, email us anyway: we remove it and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, whatever the request contains. See our Child Safety Standards.
How to ask
Email safety@coacta.com with the subject “Removal request”. A valid request has four parts:
- Your signature. Typing your full name at the end of the email counts. If you are writing for someone else, sign with your own name and say how you are allowed to act for them (for example, as their lawyer or parent).
- Where the image is. Tell us enough to find it: for example the group and chat it was sent in, roughly when, the username of the person who posted it, or the profile or activity it appears on. Please do not attach the image. A description is enough, and we will ask if we cannot find it.
- A short statement that you believe in good faith the image was shared without your consent, and anything that helps us see that (for example, that you never shared it, or shared it privately with one person).
- How to reach you: an email address or phone number where we can contact you, or the person acting for you.
If you are on Coacta, you can also use Report on the message, profile, or activity. A report reaches us too, but the email request above is the one that starts the 48-hour clock.
What happens next
- We reply to confirm that we have your request.
- Within 48 hours of receiving a valid request we remove the image, and any identical copies we find, so that nobody on Coacta can see them.
- If part of the request is missing, we write back to ask for it. We may take the image down while we wait.
- We may lock or close the account that shared it. We do not give your name or contact details to the person who posted it.
- We may keep a copy where only Coacta can reach it, for as long as the law requires, for example if we have to report it or receive a legal request to preserve it. The Privacy Policy explains how long.
What we cannot do
We can remove the image from Coacta, but not from other websites or apps, or from copies someone saved to their own phone. These free services can help elsewhere:
- Take It Down (NCMEC), for images taken when you were under 18.
- StopNCII.org, for images of adults.
- Cyber Civil Rights Initiative, for support and advice.
